TRIANGLE PARK MASTER PLAN
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Common Ground Forest Park?
Common Ground Forest Park is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed by residents of the Forest Park neighborhood to build community in our neighborhood and its surrounding areas and improve Triangle Park.
What is the goal of this park improvement project?
Our goal is to make Triangle Park a safer and more enjoyable space for neighbors of all ages. The plans are preliminary at this point, but they include a re-imagined and upgraded play area, improved green space and walkways, and new seating/gathering areas.
Why now?
It's been more than 20 years since the current playground equipment was installed in Triangle Park. In recent years some features, including the seesaw and bouncers, have been removed due to disrepair. The remining structures and park fencing are showing significant wear and continue to deteriorate. Erosion has also led to uneven surfaces in the picnic area and the exposure of tree roots throughout the park.

Who designed the proposed improvements?
Macknally Land Design, a professional landscape architect with experience designing City parks, working in consultation with CGFP and community members, created the initial design concepts based on feedback from neighborhood surveys.
How were neighbors involved in the planning process?
CGFP has formally solicited and received written comments from residents and stakeholders through various efforts over the last two years. Comments have been collected at multiple events CGFP hosted at the park, as well as on this website, in survey responses, and at several neighborhood association meetings over the last two years.
These efforts have helped identify priorities such as improved play areas, shade, lighting, seating, and natural beauty.
Will the City help pay for the improvements?
A little history is helpful here. Years ago, neighbors came together to improve Triangle Park, which was then a bare grass wedge. The result of their hard work was the three-tiered playground you see today. Today, our vision is to create a public-private partnership with the City to implement this round of improvements. The plans are preliminary, but we have remained in contact with the City and its Parks and Rec Department. Our goal is that the City would provide funding towards the project, but at this point it is too early to know what that amount would be. Once the improvement plans are developed, we will present them to the City and have a better understanding of its participation.
How will the project be funded?
The project will likely be funded through a mix of private donations, grants, and—if possible—City support. Common Ground Forest Park will lead the fundraising efforts and ensure transparency in how funds are used.
When will construction begin?
The project is still in the planning and fundraising stages. Once funding is secured and final designs are approved, a more detailed construction timeline will be developed.
How can neighbors get involved or help?
Neighbors can get involved by donating, volunteering at fundraising events, or spreading the word. Opportunities to help will be shared through our website and community updates.
Will the park remain open during improvements?
That will depend on the construction plan. Our goal is to minimize disruption
and keep parts of the park open whenever possible.
How can I stay informed about the project’s progress?
Updates will be posted on the Common Ground Forest Park website
and shared via its Facebook feed. You can also sign up for our email
list to receive updates directly.
